Parques de Sintra has once again been named the “Best Cultural Destination” in the world at the 2024 World Luxury Travel Awards, marking the second consecutive year it has received this prestigious accolade. This recognition reinforces Sintra’s status as a top cultural destination on the global stage. The award highlights Parques de Sintra’s vital role in preserving, enhancing, and promoting the heritage treasures that make up the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995.
According to Parques de Sintra, this award is especially meaningful because it is based on visitor feedback, reflecting the outstanding quality of the experience visitors enjoy across the 11 parks and monuments managed by the company. These include iconic landmarks like the Pena National Park and Palace, the National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz, the Castle of the Moors, Monserrate Park and Palace, and the Capuchos Convent, among others.
The 146 categories in the World Luxury Travel Awards span across themes like “Air”, “Water”, “Land”, “Destination”, and “Lifestyle”. An independent jury, through on-site visits, evaluates nominees based on criteria such as service excellence, attention to detail, and efficiency. The winners are then decided by online votes from both tourism professionals and the public.
Since their creation in 2019, the World Luxury Travel Awards have been dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the excellence of companies in the luxury travel and tourism sector, granting them the global recognition they deserve.
